is there any tips on getting the 10mm T&E cable for my loft to CB i can get it down about a meter but then gets caught on something as far as i am aware its a striaght run down. and as i live in a flat i am unable to chase any walls out as it goes through a down stairs flat also unable to feed anything rigid as there is very little access to the area were it descends. thanks

If it is a stud wall then almost certainly you have horizontal timbers that will have to tbe drilled through.

May be a silly question but do you have legal right to use the loft for your own use ? Very often the loft is not part of the top flat but remains in the ownership of the person owning the ground or the managment company that maintians the fabric of the building's common areas such as the roof.

Am I interpreting this correctly?

You want to pass a cable through a cavity wall that is part of someone else's flat?

no if i was to chase walls out id have to access the other flat but the cb is in my entrance hall

So if you can pass the cable down the cavity where it isn't in the wall of someone else's flat, why can't you chase into the wall in the same place?

were it come down is on a external wall so only one side i can chase down which would take me into flat below my entrance hall (ground level only) is on the other side were my CB is were her external wall would be if my hall was not there

I can't make sense of your descriptions.

Let's try the simple question again.

Where you are trying to pass the cable down but are finding it gets stuck - if it didn't get stuck, if the cable did go down then chased in or not it would still be in a wall - would it be in a wall of your flat, or of somebody else's flat?
