Hi all,

I want to run a cable down the inside of a stud partition wall. From above, I have accessed the interior of the partition, and I have cut out my hole for the switch, where I am going to use a single cavity box.

The problem is that when I try to feed my cable down the wall to my opening, I am stopped by a horizontal noggin about 2 feet up from my switch position.

How do I get my cable past this noggin?

Thanks

There's nothing else for it - you have to cut out a square of plasterboard over this noggin and cut it. Then nail the plasterboard back in place either side of the cable, and patch up.

There is another answer if time and conditions allow but you might not want/be able to do it.
use a long drill or drill extensions from above.

The previous post is my normal option though

I've used a router to cut grooves in the timber, stopped 1/2" either side of stud and used wire coat hanger to pass cable between sections. worked like a charm. Used a long router cutter and made several passes, when cable in place insert fillets of timber to fill cuts in the timber and finish with filler.

Salem.
