I need to take the private number plates off my van and put them on my car (it's all been done via the DVLA).

I'm thinking of carefully prizing them off with a firm wallpaper scraper, two questons;

- is there a prefered way of getting the plates off so they can be used again (and not damage the car)?
- where can I get some mega strong double-sided stickers so I can stick the plates on the car?

Thank you in advance.

If you can warm the plates up with a hot air blow gun or similar there's less chance of cracking the plate and more chance that the adhesive will come away more easily - but there is no guarantee here! I wouldn't use a scraper in case you scratch the paint work - just pull by hand.
Motor factors sell the double sided sticky strips for plates (3 are recommended).
If you need new plates made, you'll need the car's V5 log sheet and a passport or driving license before you can get some.
John :)
