I bought a code reader but have not used it yet. About £80 on Ebay.

When I started to try it asked me for a "garage number" and I did not know what to enter. Anyone have any ideas?

What is this number? How many digits does it expect?

What will the reader do with the number?

What number should I use ???

Thanks

Tony

Tony your post is as good as many asking for help with a boiler problem - not a single mention of what you are refering to. No make, model, version nowt.

Not everyone is equiped with crystal balls nowadays, they have become a rather rare comodity.

I don't know the model because it has been "put away".

Is anyone going to be able to assist when I tell you though?

Did the reader actually belong to a garage, Tony? If so, they may have had a diagnostics account with someone.
If it didn't , I've no idea - mine are just plug and play.
John :)

It was brand new and I expected it to be plug and play!

Being cautious I stopped at that point because did not want to mess it up permanently!

There are some boilers where you only have one chance to enter the model code.

Will try to find where it is and the model.

If it is a "China clone" then it may well ask for details because its original software called for these details but during the clone process some will accept any input.

Can anyone tell me a garage code of the format the machine might expect?

Post a picture of the reader, and give us some details (maybe the ebay listing) and we'll then see what we can do. Can I assume that it's for reading the fault codes on a cars diagnostics.
