Moved in to my new house mid Nov 14. Its approx 15yr old Wimpey with a Potterton Suprima 40 boiler and a Boilermate 3.

Initial issues with boiler tripping out appear to be fixed with a new PCB and thermister fitting.

Next issue was stored temp dropping completely down and not returning to set level.
Managed to get work when run timer ON (overide) and putting the 2 position valve into Manual. I have since fitted a new 2 way valve and motorised position valve as old looked/felt a bit tight.

I have left the timer in MID position (timed controlled) and it successfully turned the heating on at the set intervals for the past couple of nights but this morning, it has failed to provide heating for the radiators, although state on the front that the demand is for heating AND store.

Switching the timer to ON position (overide), and still no heating.

The only way that I can get the heat to my radiators is by having the 2 way position valve switched into manual position for the boiler to ignite and stay ignited.

Is this turning into PCB timer fault? Or Pump delay PCB fault??

Any thoughts guys?

Don't waste any more time or money on the thing.
The only certainty is that it will break often and cost substantial sums to coax back into operation every time.

Remove and replace with a mains pressure hot water cylinder.

My commiserations... EVERY house I have bought over the last 20 years has had boiler faults without exception and the fault was with 'simple' things: Air pressure sensor hose broken, duff capacitors / sticking relays on PCBs, stuck 3-port valve, stuck mototized diverter valve, bad contacts on thermostat etc. etc.

effing things!

Sounds like you have similar kinds of faults that I have had in the past.

Just annoying as it works sometimes and then thinks......nah......im gonna play up now!

Went from a 45yr old terraced with a back boiler to this place.

Thanks for the advice flameport. Might bend my mates ears on how much that will be.

Might have to get the daughters Harry Potters magic wand for the next couple of nights!!

What temperature is the store at? Make sure your boiler stat is set on maximum as the heating will not come on unless the store has a temperature of at least 60 degrees

Store temp (as in the front LED indicators) is set to Level 4 out of 10.

Haven't got a temperature prob or such to measure the actual temp but I know that the pipe connecting the expansion tank to the main store is ruddy hot (too hot to hold on to).
