Golf 2013 Mk 7 rear washer blocked

For sure, a little heat can only help things - with some heavy duty twisting!
The flutes are the corrugations that help to grip the pipe.....if the nozzle was smooth the pipe would shoot off again.

Hi again

Update: Used wife’s hairdryer to warm up pipe and then removed nozzle. Cleared out as much of the pipe as I could access but no joy. Motor/pump seems to be working, wipers working but no water. Should I now look at pump next to washer resovoir? (Can’t see any evidence of leaks)

Thanks for your time.

Yep, if there's no water at the pipe then it's back to the pump itself which is likely to be blocked with soap or similar. These pumps are usually a push fit into the bottle with a grommet and are often under the wing behind the arch liner.

Hi again

Beginning to think this job is cursed. The lining has about eight screws. Removed six, but two (ones upside down under wheel arch) won’t move with Allen key. I think the heads must be worn. I thought there would be a small section which would expose washer pump, but assuming I have to remove all and pull the whole thing off The lining seems to split around the area in front of pump, but still think I have to remove the awkward one and all the others.

Pictures to help. I know there are workarounds with damaged screwdriver heads but not sure about Allen key bolts.

Any advice much appreciated as usual.

I expect they are Torx screws, probably T20. At the risk of being boring, when I pulled my pump out I couldn't understand why I didn't get a sleeve full of water. Seems the grommet had a strainer built in and it was that which was blocked with the blue jelly. Cleaned it, flushed the tank , refitted and refilled and all OK.

Also remember some vehicles have a non return valve in the feed to rear washer. Prevents water draining back to reservoir causing the need to run rear washer to need fair time for water to appear.

That valve could be blocked.

Thanks. Will have another go tomorrow. Didn’t realise I’d have all these torx screws to remove.

Hi

Still struggling with this. Loosened screws to shroud/liner thingy. 1. V difficult to remove completely as appears to be permanently connected at bottom. Also not clear where pump location is. See pictures below. (Assumed on passenger side under resovoir)

Thanks

Maybe the liner is trapped under the engine slash guard too?
Also look for plastic rivets, the type you push the centre pin through to release. It's got to come off somehow! As you say, some jobs are cursed......
John :)

Thanks. However, I pulled it back as far as possible to reveal area where pump should be. The pictures cover this area. Looked at Mk7 pump on EBay, but can’t see anything like that in my case. Must be well and truly hidden away.

The washer pipe may be kinked when the tail gate shuts, have you tried working rear washer when tailgate open? check washer pipe at tailgate aperture (from body of car to tailgate)
