Help please if you can to someone who aint got a clue about such matters as this!

My poor mother is lumbered with one of these which has been condemmed due to a gasket having perished. The last service engineer has apparently sealed the unit up with silicone so when it has come to be serviced now the front cannot be opened for this reason?

The boiler etc working ok presently, this problem come to light when she called out somebody to service it.

Just wanted some advice on potential repair or if not the best way to replace in terms of cost/upheaval etc.

All replies greatly appreciated.
