Not sure. It just seems sensible to target as many voters as possible. I read that the Tories have been providing some campaign materials in Urdu and Hindi for almost fifty years, although the extent is unclear.

The Green Party video I saw had a voiceover in Urdu and some squiggles on the screen that I assume were Urdu subtitles. Not a trace of the main language of this country anywhere. Plus it was all lies.

That's a good point.

I had originally assumed that the video was just an Urdu translation of the main video produced in English.

But it looks like it might have been a different one entirely, written specifically for Muslims.

It was, I did see a version with english subtitles that had been added by someone else.

It was all about how the Greens would specifically benefit Muslims, definitely not for consumption of their English-speaking voters.

They can say one thing in English and something completely different in Urdu, make different and sometimes conflicting promises to different supporters.

They're a scam party, they'll promise anyone whatever they want to hear just to get into power.

I think there's a variety of factors. The language requirement probably wasn't as strict in decades gone by. Also, I believe the language requirement is lower for family visas than work visas, and also there seem to be exceptions for elderly relatives.

It’s what all politicians do, the language is irrelevant. Sour grapes from loser Re formers. Nige is often at odds with his own party’s policies. Trump campaign ads target different voter groups. Making Farragistes angry won’t get the votes in, only policy changes will.
