Governed by whom ?

Really?

So you enjoy being a 'subject' with no say, not a citizen ?

At least there is a semblance of Democracy.

There are of course other ways of electing an (often symbolic) head of state around the world which work perfectly well and can also allow a head of state to step in when the politicians mess up!

But leaving that aside, no thoughts on the other parts of our undemocratic ruling system?
The U.S. system is the best excuse for not having the U.S. system, the U.K. could have someone like Trump or worse still Tony Blair as head of state.
I would rather have Prince Charles or the Queen any day.

Anyone who supports the notion of the head of state occupying that position through a fluke of birth obviously has an inferiority complex!

Inferiority complex? Far from it.

It's the ones doing the bleating about it that have the inferiority complex.

In that the person that got the fewest votes is president?

Ella confuses monarchy (I don't approve of) with royalty. different things. I wish them as individuals no harm whatsoever.

Although the Royal family is referred to as 'the monarchy' in Great Britain it is a constitutional monarchy so we have a parliamentary democracy.

I would think the Royal family are about as far from an Absolute monarchy as as possible. They dont get involved in politics at all. The worst is probably Prince Charles having a pop at architecture.

I note also that there are no comments on the other aspects of our so-called 'democracy'.

Probably because brexiteers don't have any answers :ROFLMAO:

Don't have any answers for what ? Not been under the tricoloured jackboot ??

No one is saying our system is perfect but it's perfect compared with the EU.

No but he was bloody well invited !!! As that's says it all !!!!!!!!
It says he is a lot more principled than most.

That could be the type of person that is really wanted for such posts and hardly his fault he is invited.

A bit of a dichotomy and no pleasing some people.

Brexit has sparked a dramatic fall in EU businesses registering in the UK. French down 48%, Belgium down 38%, Netherlands down 52%. Foreign companies are now reluctant to invest in the UK. OECD figures show that last year foreign direct investment into the UK tumbled by 90%

We are taking back control. Anyone care to respond to that?

I have not heard anything about a national investment bank.

Royal family ect bring in millions in tourisim

billions of pounds worth of contracts have been signed on the royal yacht .
France did the right thing and they get far more tourism to their 'royal free' palace attractions than the UK. In fact they get far more tourism full stop!

And what 'royal yacht' are you talking about?

Answers for...

A country where we have:
No elected head of state
No elected second chamber.
Appointed Ministers - Just like EU Commisioners.
'Unelected bunch of career bureacrats' - we just call then civil servants.
Over 1,000 unelected UK Quangos who hand out £90bn p.a. of our money to who they like.
(does EU contributions and rebate/grants ring a bell? - only on a much larger scale. The EU only has 53 Quangos and has a budget of 10 Billion Euros - but for 28 countries!)

Then of course we have our wonderful FPTP electoral system.
Where no party gets a majority.
Where only a small percentage of votes actually count.
Where one party can get approx 2m votes and get 8 seats, and yet another party can get approx 12m votes and get 297 seats.
(250,000 votes per seat vs 40,000 votes per seat is fair?)

Perfect compared to the EU?

Someone is wearing xenophobic blinkers!

But hey, hope you are enjoying your 'perfect country' so far: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/may/22/brexit-vote-cost-uk-mark-carney-bank-of-england

And that's just the start.
Thanks very much, gammons! (y)

Edit: It seems the world isn't rushing to do deals with us.

And why would they!
