No, the referral isn't by phone.

I've come up with a cunning plan that will result in a massive saving on my gas bill this next winter.
I'll simply use a few electric fan heaters instead of the gch and watch as my gas bill plummets.
I think I'll send that guy from the money saving thing an email so he can spread my ingenious idea to the masses.

really in what way ? the staff are already paid same as the GP is already paid regardless of how they spend their day
Basically: it’s like changing from a very simplistic triage to a more sophisticated one
the NHS has a system where GPs are primary care providers and they act as gatekeepers to access secondary care….it’s a blunt instrument.
Historically this has resulted in referring patients based on very basic diagnosis…..resulting in lots of unnecessary referrals filling up secondary care appointments and extending waiting times
The purpose of the A&G is to give Gps access to specialist advice on their patients so that allows GPs to consult with specialists about a patient's care, treatment plans, investigations, and referrals, all without a face-to-face appointment. (Which has nothing to do with patient phone appointments as some on here think)
I think long term it will only work really well if gp surgeries build really good systems to do it.
