They're notorious for doing this unfortunately. As I understand it, it's their policy to insist that boilers with reported leaking heat exchangers are shipped back to them for inspection, at which point they will decide whether it is a manufacturing fault or an installation fault. A cynic might suggest that behind closed doors there's only one decision they're going to make there... One reason I refuse to fit them.He then informed me that they would potentially do the replacement at their cost, but that they'd rip apart the boiler in their warehouse and if they found it was my fault I'd have to pay for everything.
If you end up needing a replacement boiler, look at EOGB Sapphire (expensive but more efficient, and a 25 year heat exchanger warranty) or Hounsfield (cheaper, excellent build quality with no plastic bits, 5 year no quibble warranty).
