grass growing to fast

A friend as recommended buying watering down cheap spirits, and then by way of watering can covering/coating the lawn, especially at this time of year for suppressing growth of the grass.
anyone else heard of this??

I would try it on his lawn first..... Sounds like *******s.

You can buy growth retarders but they are very expensive and designed for steep slopes etc that are costly and difficult to cut.

Buy a lamb, short grass during the summer and lamp chops and shanks in the winter.

You could try testing the PH level of the lawn and, if it is acidic, try to increase the level to neutral so that grass will find it more difficult to get nutrients. You may then find your lawn is so flimsy you'd wish you'd have just taken a lawnmower to it as it's almost impossible to take the PH in the reverse direction.
