hey guys...
I've got kitchen extension roof.
it is a flat roof but i don't know from which material it is made... it looks like hard dry rubber...but i'm not sure

anyway i've got stones/gravel covering the roof... when i asked a friend why there is gravel? he said the gravel are there to prevent the roof from cracks or sun ray!!

the problem with the gravel is it is holding dirt/mud and there are a lot of moss on it... there is also small branch/tree grew on it where the rain water comes through gutter from the original house roof.

so i'm thinking of taking away the gravel and bring new one but i don't know what kind of gravel i should buy and what size.

could you please advise?

10mm white spar stone chippings

You need to bond these with a cold bonding bitumen ... unless you can do hot bonding!
