Great british cars-nostalgia

Thank you I loved that link...my dad (bless him) spent all his working life at the Rover despite being a talented trained cabinet maker, he settled for 'security'.
Lovely to hear a 'proper' Brummie accent and see my old Triumph Herald ...I loved that car, very nostalgic for me too.

My Car garage started in 1982 before that it was bikes culminating in a Moto Guzzi Lemans Mk11

My first car was a big fridge on wheels (it was white and very square) Cortina Mk1V 1.6

Then my cars got interesting but I'll stick with the retro theme.

Pirelli Gordon was the landmark tyre of that era.

But the thread has been hijacked away from British cars of the 1960s/70s.

I did not do it. I listed 17 brit cars of that era in my post , with just a casual remark about having bikes till my first car which was a 1970s brit car in keeping with the thread.

Back on track with the cars.....I never liked the allegro and years later it was proved it was more aero-dynamic going backwards   ..had a mini though and loved it until the great british weather got the better of it

Almost , almost bought a new Montego Turbo , for the time a very quick car. made the mistake of lifting the carpet in the boot of this brand new car to find rust on the crossmembers . .
So bought a bmw 316 instead

Great link, enjoyed that, I miss the old Bull Ring even though it was the pits!

Many of my parents friends worked at the Longbridge plant and it was horrible when it closed.
