Great Gas CH Information / wiring diagram site

Just had a quick look. Thanks for the contribution to this site, but I'm afraid there are lots of errors immediately visible, which doesn't give one much confidence in the gasman site.

Sorry chaps - thought it might be of use

As a non-specialist, I did learn something about my Gravity system's Wiring system though. When you realise that the room / cyl stats are effectively wired as a two way switch for the CH side, and some failure in this wiring probably explains why I am only getting CH when the HW is being heated.

Which is more than the 3 local Heating Engineers who came to look at my system (before I found you wonderful people on this site) knew. They just wanted to repipe to fully pumped or supply a new boiler!!!

porbably good advice to replace your antiquated system, save you a fortune

Thanks Corgiman,

That is part of the problem though - from looking at the previous owner's usage, plus mine over the last 6 weeks (we've kept the same supplier), our CH and HW bill is looking at £400 - £480 pa.

So, even with a let's say 50% more efficient system, the savings to be made are only £240 pa, so with a Professional doing the work for say £900 - £1500 (which is what I've been quoted locally) its going to be quite a few years before you even start to break even.

I'm thus considering this ugrade in terms of efficiency in speed (ie. reduced time for HW to replenish and CH to take effect).

Kind Regards
Dig
