I received my free sample today, had to pay a surcharge at the post office for it as the 2nd class stamp didn't cover the postage

I also had to pay the surcharge on the postage, I complained to [email protected] and he credited £10 to my PayPal account as compensation for the 3 mile round trip to the post office and the £1.19 postage charge.

That's good service (although "smart" service would be to ensure that the postage charges were covered )

I've asked for my free sample and will report back in due time!

I've noticed CPC now sell them. Slightly cheaper (only checked the price of the blue ones) and free shipping if ordered online.

Has anyone seen how fiddly these things are to use, need the exact size drill bit, and setting gauge, someone needs to come up with a heavy duty fixing that does not require loads of tools to fit it?

He was on dragons den a few weeks ago. Peter jones pulled a rad right off the wall. He did get investment tho. Fair play to him tho he is only 18 and started his business when he was about 13!

Maybe a more radical approach is needed?

Something which tries to address the root cause rather than find a way to work around the symptoms?


Perhaps making walls out of something solid, like bricks, or concrete blocks, could be tried?

Got a pack of red and a pack of blue ones from Screwfix as i had a rad to put on a wall (don't ask)

It was a complete disaster.

I was hoping to use the blue ones but the bolt was too big for the holes in the rad bracket so I turned to the red ones.

Drilled my 20mm hole (no way back from that!) pushed in the Gripit, found a tiny screwdriver and turned the wing thing screw (its like a watch screw it's TINY) and the head sheared off the screw head

So poked thewhole ting into the wall and put in a new one, pusehed it in a lot further and turned the grip screws - success. Put rad bracket on using the fixing screw that came with the Gripit, tightened it up and the hole in the middle of the Gripit stripped

So now I have a big useless 20mm hole exactly where I need to fix my rad.

In the end had to use spring toggle fixings in the 20mm hole.

For me, a waste of time and money.

We've already got umbrella fixings which are cheap, reliable and available everywhere. Don't see why you'd need anything else.

They look to have addressed some of the installation issues of the original version.


I'm interested in them as there is a fairly heavy cabinet that could do with fixing on a partition wall which is basically two sheets of plasterboard with a cavity of several inches and no nearby studs etc. Not used the spring toggles / umbrella fixings for anything 'meaty' before so have steered clear of the task up until now but perhaps these new type are worth a look - although TTC's horror story of the previous type is a concern re quality even if the design has improved...

Spring toggles are rubbish and no good for what you want to do.
Hollow wall anchors (umbrellas) are really good so ...

but perhaps these new type are worth a look

Precisely - I think you can tell just by looking.

I have one in a box at work - it lives in the box as it's crap ! Looks just like the one in the video, came from Screwfix.

As an alternative, put a matching nut on the screw with a washer or two and put the screw back into the brolly. While holding the screw still, tighten the nut down with a spanner. The brolly won't turn because the friction between the screw and the brolly is more than between the nut and the brolly face (with a couple of flat washers in between) - plus the prongs help as well.
