Hi all,

Looking for some advice on how best to connect to the existing foul drainage system.
I need to route a new drainage run around my proposed extension. The run will require 1 90 degree bend then connect to the main sewer.
There is an existing gully top connected into the sewer pipe and is concreted in.

I am assuming I will need to excavate out around the main sewer pipe away from existing concrete foundations (approx 1m deep) and cut the pipe creating a manhole connection. The new drains could then connect via the manhole. My issue with this is it will require a sizable excavation (relative to the job) to complete this work so ideally looking for alternative solutions.

It appears more simple to modify the existing top connection and connect to that and allow the water to drop into the sewers as it does now from the existing gullie.
However I am not sure how agreeable this would be for the BCO and and getting it signed off , and how to deal with access once covered.

The main sewer is private and only serves my property .
It is combined sewer.
The connection will be for grey water only from kitchen sinks/washing machine.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

We tend do the foundation trenches first, as long as the concrete and its finished height, are not an issue.

You will expose the pipe when you dig the foundations.

We'd cut the existing sewer pipe each side of the trench and well wide of the trench (where your question mark is), do the foundation dig and replace that piece with a temporary plastic bit with Ferncos on each end.

Pour the concrete and let it go off.

We'd then remove the temp' piece and splice in a new IC on the existing sewer pipe and run the new drains into that. Piece of cake.

We did a job last summer with six people living in the house and all the existing drains needed moving outside of the new extension footprint...
