Gunk (glue?) on tile face

A stupid question I'm sure, but I have past form on stupidity..

There is what looks like a spaghetti mess of glue on the face of ceramic tiles - I guess to stop them cracking against each other in the box.

What's the best and easiest way to get it all off without damaging the tile?

If it won't come off with your nail, knock it off by sliding the edge of a piece of wood across the tile face.

If you buy one of those cheap packs of diy knives there is usually a scraper with a stanley blade in it,these are ideal for just such a job
