ok so i have just purchased a halogen hob on flea bay and have no fitting instructions

its a diplomat adp 1500 the rating is 6300watts i know i cant wire this to a 13amp socket but i believe there is a way to wire it to 2 13amp sockets as there are bridges installed to the wire block which i assume are removed then 2 rings work from one socket and 2 from another. but i would imagine that they would still need to be wired on separate rings as if still on same ring 2.5mm that would drain too much from ringmain. or would this be better wired to the dedicated cooker socket. which will also have a double oven wire to it.

please help all advice much appreciated.

Holy crap don't even think of doing aything you've said.

That hob requires a dedicated supply in 6mm cable protected by a 32A MCB and RCD protection and a 45Adouble pole isolator!!!

Call a sparky

thanks for the speedy replie gonna go and get 6mm cable and route it so chappies can install unless theres another way anyone can think of

Before you do anything. Find and electrician and make sure he is OK with you specifying and running the cable.

He may come to your house and find another way of doing things.

He may be adding a new circuit to your consumer unit. There are a lot of things to think about:
Is your supply capable of handling another 30 amps
Is the earthing up to curent specs
Is there space in your consumer unit for another circuit
Is there an RCD available
Where will the isolator swirch go
What route will the cable take - are there any detrimental effects?
etc
etc

PS Whats wrong with a gas hob?

Listen up, Taylor is giving you sound advice here!!!

It is not as simple as- big cable into CU -pick a fuse- get a switch -put all together- cook tea.

you got a bargian (hopefull) so splash on a sparky
