Hello

We had an extension a few years back and they fitted hard-wired alarms.

They started chirping recently so I replaced the batteries- still chirping.

I took the offending one off the ceiling (I know, I know) and it still chirps, not the alarm but the space where it used to be.

What's happening?! It's like one of those nightmares you have when your alarm is going off and you don't want to wake up, but you can't switch it off...

It only seems to do it at night- how does it know? It does it about every 15 mins or so.

Is there an actual noise making device buried in the ceiling?

Thanks for any help before I smash a hole in my ceiling!

Andy

It's a SMOKE DETECTOR (a forgotten about smoke detector), back of a cupboard etc, the sound is it telling you that the battery is going flat.
