Has Britain really still got this grit

We'll never need the grit silly.

Why?

Cause as the wokies like to tell us, all we need to do with the global bullies is sit down, have a nice cuppa, and talk. That's the way to resolve these issues. We need no army, no defences, all we need is a cuppa :)

I wouldn't call Trump a "wokie"

I will re phrase my question as already receiving accusations. I am not talking of our armed forces as they currently stand, the regular forces are prepared, trained and ready for this. I am talking about conscripts which would be needed like in WW2. They was a different generation with a different view and mindset.
I could be wrong, however our youth would maybe surprise us. Yes it's a different generation and many of them have a different world outlook. But if push literally came to shove, I reckon a fair few of them would step up if need be.

Once a way of life and family is under threat many people will adopt a mindset needed, just as happened in 2 world wars.

People dont want to be out to take on anybody, but once forced into a corner, things change.

I doubt very much that Britain still has got this true grit and to sustain us through another long war. Too many woke views and ideals which wasn't even a thing back in those days. Judging by the type of responses you get on this site for example. Not a bloody chance. Thoughts on this?

When I read a week or so back about all this talk of conscription, I wondered how it would go down with Gen Z and indeed some immigrants who have little love for this country.
Won't effect me I'm too old to be called up. Highwayman will be OK, he's already been to Hull and back.

Then why is he getting involved and telling Ukraine what to do?
Because he knows if things carry on the way it is at the moment, in order for Ukraine to win then it will involve putting troops on the ground and fighting a bloody war. The way things are going at the moment it is simply costing a lot of lives and money on both sides with no real winners emerging.

The recruits in Kitchener's army were the same and after German bullets had weeded a few out the army at the end of the Somme campaign were tempered by the ordeal. I've no doubt the same could be said of any recruits thrown into combat in the 21st century: some will lie down and die; others will thrive and survive. The technolgy changes but human's are still pretty much the same.

That's my point. Humans may be the same but are they still the same with grit and determination?
