i need a 12VDC heater rope type heater, about a meter long. needs to be powerful and there is 40-50A available. it needs to get to around 60-70 deg C and able to handle bein heated to 100deg C (not under its own power)

anyone know if such a thing exists and where to get one?

there are pipe-wrap heating tapes to prevent icing, but I haven't seen one with such a high rating and short length.

its something similar to that what i need, but 12VDC and to get very hot

there's probably an industrial product for petrochemical or laboratory work, maybe you can search some lab or educational suppliers (there's a UK co called Rapid Education that does a lot of electrical stuff).

best i can find is nickel/scrome wire for making heating elements. looks like i might end up making it myself

or: there are 4 small metal pipes, around 8mm OD that need to be heated to around 70 deg C in the quickest time. maybe small heaters that fit around the pipe are available? but it must be 12VDC

if you do attempt to make it your self you want nichrome wire, but dont forget that you will need to insulate it from the pipe and itself which may defeat the object
