Hi all,

This is my first post. We have just moved into a our first house and everything is great apart from we simply cant seem to get any hot water out of our boiler without using the immersion heater!

We have set the controls to come on for 1hr 30 mins in the morning for hot water and whenever it is supposed to come on the boiler lights with a status C then continues for about 30 seconds to a minute, then the burner light goes from solid to flashing. The tank upstairs actually feels warm / hot so I guess it must be doing something but there is just no hot water coming out. It also doesn't seem to work if we use the advance function.

On the tank upstairs the pressure is at about 1.5 bar and the temperature gauge is set to about 45c, on the boiler itself the heat setting is set at about half way.

Can anyone offer any pearls of wisdom on this? Is it just user error or could we actually have a problem?

Thanks in advance!

Turn the cylinder stat up to 60c and see if that makes any difference. It could be the immersion has heated the cylinder to over 45c.

If not is sounds like you have a problem. Try turning the heating on full and see if the boiler fires up ok.

Hi Dave

Thanks for your reply. We have tried turning the thermostat up on the tank but doesnt seem to have an effect.

Just so I am clear - if the thermostat is set at 60c, does that mean that the boiler must heat the wather in the tank until it reaches 60c and then will switch off? (hypothetically!)

Thanks

Matt

try putting the boiler thermostat on full (as already suggested) and you should see a difference

pump is seized or there is no water in the system I would suspect!
if the boiler runs "C" and a steady light then its fine, it will heat up but if the water isn't being circulated then it will go to overheat this may give a L or H code if it gets really hot or just wait until it cools and then fire again
