Help please - cleaning slate tiles..

Disaster! A friend of mine has cleaned his slate tiles with a suger soap / soda crystals solution. The surface has had a coat or two of sealer. The slates now dry are showing white streaky marks all over! It looks awful, what can he do other than retile the lot?

Sorry, forgot to mention that the tiles are in his bathroom...

What brand and type of sealer has been applied? Need to know this before advising further

Wickes stone sealer & Wickes satin finish.

See if Wickes do there own brand of cement film remover similar to the HG Brand. This may do the trick. Check the bottles you have to see if they have a tech helpline and give them a ring otherwise and see what they suggest.
