Hi, I have some loose bathroom tiles near the shower that we're actually growing mushrooms from, and they were also growing on the other side of the wall.

They have been up over 20 years.

Will letting the wall dry out, spraying with diluted bleach and re tiling be sufficient or should I do something else?

Thanks

Must be penetrating damp from long term leak , is the plaster in poor condition?

I think the plaster will dry out ok, but wondering whether I should cut that piece out and replace with some kind of cement based board.

Either that or do the tanking paint kit suggested above, not sure about using tape to seal to the bath though.

Quotes from Aliens aside, i'd say take the lot off back to brick, tank it, nasboards, tiles back on. Sorted.
