Dear all,

We have just moved to our new house with a Veritas R8 alarm system installed. The previous owner has told us that they have never used it in the past 12 years and it is not quite in working order.

This morning, the alarm is beeping irregularly and we have no idea how to fix it. We entered the code 4321 and press reset to stop it. It works sometimes, but not all the time. The keypad unset light is on, while tamper light keeps flashing.

See attached link here:

Just would if there is any idea regarding the problem and the solution to fix it.
Alternative, could we just power off/terminate it?

Any advice will be helpful.

Thank you in advance for the help.

Regards,
Tom

tamper showing, means there is a tamper somewhere on the system.

enter 4321 prog, all lights up, 41 (is tamper displayed?

if yes press OMIT, the number displayed relates to the type of tamper you have. Press reset twice when finished.

If that doesn't do anything then try the same process using the engineers code.

Could also have a faulty battery inside the control panel ?
Sounds like it has not been looked at for years.

That should show up as a 2, in the extended tamper, although on some veritas the battery fault would show the same as a mains power fault by the flashing unset light.

it is well over a due a battery change.

Where shall we get the battery? And what is the name/model of the battery?
Is it safe to change the battery on our own? Or we should look for a qualified engineer to fix it?

Thank you in advance for the advice.

Open panel lid
Enter code to stop noise
Battery can be 2.8 or 7.0 ah battery
Replace with what is in panel
You can get them from screwfix
Replace battery
Put lid back on panel
Enter code press reset
If all ok them sorted
Good luck

If your looking for a battery this Easter weekend, screw fix or tool station are your best bet, tool station we’re doing yucel batteries but both are usually over priced.

Take out the one you have and stick to same size, usually if the wiring is a mess you won’t get a battery any bigger than already have in the panel.
