They're the same, common to common, l1 and l2 are the same also. Swap one at a time if space allows, power off obviously.

Thanks for the reply and the diagram. It does turn on the outside light, the other two turn on 2 lights in the hall. I’ll have a crack at it tomorrow
With the lack of anything in the terminal circled in yellow that switch cannot do anything. I'll guess the wire came out when you disturbed it, I'll also guess it's yellow.
It may possibly have done. I’ll check tomorrow, cheers!
A yellow wire had indeed come out. Job completed now - thanks again for your help
