Hi

Just moved house, as always the previous occupants replaced all light fittings with cheap white plastic ones, in this case a pendant. Bought a new fitting and removed the old pendant. Trouble is, 4 cables come in, so it has 4 neutrals, 4 live and 4 earths (one of the neutrals looks like a switched live).

How do I wire up the new light please.

Current wiring below

I tried putting the switch live (with red sleave) into the L of the new fitting, the single neutral into the N and put the earth into the earth. This resulted in the light working, but the hall and 1 other bedroom not!

Would appreciate any help on this.

Thank you

Black wire with red sleeving (switched live) into L.
Remaining blacks (Neutrals) into N.
Reds together in a connector on their own (looks like there might be a spare connector on the light block)

Green/yellows (earths) to Earth (the funny symbol between L and N)

As there are so many wires ensure that they are all terminated properly.

Thank you very much. May need to change to the block to a bigger one to get all the wires in. Thanks again.

Thanks again. Bought a strip of 30A connector blocks which had the room to fit all the cables.

Thanks for the advice

30A is a bit big!

Make sure all conductors are secure - sometimes in an oversized connector they ride up next to the screw not under it & don't get trapped effectively.
