help with electric wires.

to be fair, I'm with BAS on this one. Knowall didn't once mention safe isolation, he just kept repeating to get an electrician in, when everyone else was being helpful

To the OP: I think that the electrical side of safe isolation has been answered, but for my 2p worth - get a good torch; turn everything off at the main switch(es) for all circuits (check -) before doing anything on any of your wiring and you'll be safe. As a non-electrician doing a straightforward task, why get involved with the intricacies of circuit checking when you can just turn off all electric to the home?
Perhaps, just as important - are the storage heaters still there? If so, are they old enough to contain asbestos? It turns to dust between the bricks, so moving old heaters can be problematic. The maker's website will tell you if there is a problem.
