I am replacing a halogen floodlight (with inbuilt PIR) with an LED unit (primarily to avoid having to change bulbs which is a pain).

The supply has

Brown - Live
Grey (with blue sleeve) - Neutral
Black - Switched live?
Yellow/Green - Earth

The lamp has Live, Neutral and Earth.

The PIR has 4 terminals (L, L1, Earth and N) and says to connect

Supply live to L
Lamp live to L1
Both earths to earth
Both neutrals to neutral

I did this and had the 'black' in a chock block...but the light doesn't work. I know the rest of the cabling is fine since the halogen was working ok and I know the LED floodlight is okay as I tested it before installation.

Can someone help?

Where does the 'supply' come from?

That is, I assume there is a switch somewhere. What connections are there in the switch?
