Hi Guys,

sorry if this is a stupid question, I have bought a new henry hoover from ebay, when its arrived it has an industrial plug for one of the yellow 110v transformers and I am told its a 110v hoover.

Is there any way of running the hoover without purchasing a transformer, I am only using it in a home and dont want to lug a great big transformer around everytime I want to hoover up!

Thanks in advance

Craig

Unless it has a dual-voltage power supply / transformer, which is very unlikely, then no - the only way you could use it is if you have a 110V transformer. You probably don't need one of the great big heavy industrial ones though - check what the rating plate says the current / power usage is, you can probably get a 110V transformer that can spit out enough that will be fairly light.

If it does have a dual-voltage psu, then this should be indicated on the rating plate...

Not really - if it is designed for 110v use then it will have a 110v motor in it. You could replace the motor with a 240v one, check the switch etc is suitable however it will probably cost more than it is worth.
Think heney is about 1200w or about 11A at 110v

Check the ratings plate.

If suitable for a 240 supply, it will say something like, "100-250V AC" on the ratings plate (usually a sticker now!)

EDIT: sorry, didn't read the other replies...

Repaired 4 of these in work recently.
2x110v and 2x230v
They don't do dual voltage.
They are 1200w and cost as little as £59 brand new from some retailers so not worth bothering with transformers.

Hello ;......I have a 220v Henrry ... I can change it to the 110v you have..
