He's a wise man

I don't think, Trump will have to play it. He's most definately hoping so anyway.
Russia clearly wants eastern Ukraine where the industrial assets are located. The west can go down the self annihilating path that the rest of Europe is following for all Putin cares.
I keep hearing that the Russian state is collapsing, that they are suffering massive man power losses, that Putin has cancer and will be dead soon.
Let's see what happens.
My money is on Russia ending up with that they set out to get, or near enough.
He’s left without peace or a deal. Pootin has the manpower to grind down Ukrainian defences in a war of attrition. The only hope is ramping up the sanctions and supplying long range weapons. Trumpf will have to wait for his Peace prize.

Stocks in cannabis-related businesses soared following Trump’s remarks.
There have been several anouncements over the past couple of years which have got people excited about weed producing companies' share prices.. But two of the guys who host the Trader Youtube I look at, have lost "over 99%" on their weed stocks. I'll pass. No pun intended.

His goal seems to have been annexing all of Ukraine, that won’t happen so he’ll take as much as he can. Trumpf has a powerful hand through sanctions party countries that trading with him, but will he play it?
Modi might tell T to do one, and Xi won't help.
Poots has been exporting plenty. Big shipments of LPG going to Europe.
I saw P claiming 20% growth,. Rouble is up 40 odd % this year so far...
To his people he can just blame the West for anything bad in the country, which is being fed P's propaganda of course.
I think if P died, Medvedev would be worse.

P could kill Z with a big missile, force rigged elections (again) etc, keep going until he's used up all the North Koreans?

Someone on Bloomberg said it would take years for further sanctions to hurt Russia much.

This site seems to give an objective view on what's going on: https://www.themoscowtimes.com/news

Trump apparently got nothing. He's been humiliated.
So he's still going to be annoyed with P and under pressure to do something. I'd be looking at helping U by very indirect and deniable routes to frustrate R's exports of shadow-fleet oil, and LNG. By blowing things up.
Europe is still buying huge amounts of LNG from R. Without those, pressure on R would increase, especially if effective measures could be applied to India. Apple is a major player there.
But I'm not Trump. He doesn't care who wins, apart from himself with a Nobel Peace medal, and the US with trade.

Overwhelmingly, the headlines are that Putin humiliated Trump. Again.

I don't know if that is true, because I'm not really following it.

Five articles at least in the Telegraph. The one I was reading and these four:

There was supposed to be lots of new LNG capacity coming on line this year in USA and Canada. Can Europe get enough from there to compensate if they end supplies from Russia.

I don't know. Good question. What we DO know is that it depends on the price. The shale oil/gas production in the USA, for example, is close to the market price, so if the price goes up, they can supply a lot more. Ra Ra USA.
But Trump wouldn't want the prices at the gas stations to go up - bad for votes, FED rate cuts etc.
USA can manipulate prices to a fairly limited extent. Those pesky Arabs.....

Edit - I've done some checking.....
The US has enough oil production to replace Russian crude for Europe in theory, but it would disrupt other markets and take time. It's not the same grades of oil, and so on. There's a major pipeline to Turkey and several EU countries, including Germany.

For natural gas, no the USA can't replace Russian supplies. There's a major gas pipline under the Black Sea supplying half a dozen SE European countries. Q1 2025 flow jumped 16%.
There's a problem with the number of ships, LNG import terminals as well of lack of supply from the US.
Longer term there could be demand reduction, replacements fro Nuclear, or exports from Norway/OPEC for oil, plus others for gas.

If the USA push were the major resupply factor (less from other countries), then the price of USA gasoline on current projections would likely go up from $3.50 to around $3.85, 10%.
The murricans would be revolting and they'd blame Trump.

Has Trump ever stated that he wants a Nobel peace prize?
