Hex Allen key grub screw question

I have installed a shower screen that comes with a cross brace metal plate. It needed to be cut to size then it slots into the bracket where you tighten the hex grub screw. The original bit I cut off I noticed had a little slight indent/dimple where the grub screw touches. Just wondering now that this has been cut off, do you need to pinch a little indent with a drill or something for the grub screw or are the grub screws sharp enough to piece a indent themselves?

I have same question with a basin spout faucet which goes into a brass fitting with an O ring and then you tighten the hex screw from underneath which tightens to the brass fitting. Didn’t notice any indents. Just wondering how this stays tight? Do grub screws naturally dig a little indent?

Depends on the metal hardness by often a grub screw makes it's own dent
