High pitch noise from gas meter

Our gas meter keeps emitting a high pitch noise like the whine from an old TV set.

The gas meter is in our living area so it's very annoying!

Any idea what cases this and what can be done about it?

its the bellows wheezing (its getting old) could ask for the meter to be changed

failing that catch the mouse

Could be a noisy governor,check if its got "Donkin 225\5" on it loads of them were faulty.

Thanks. Transco came round and put a new one in - still whistles though! Time to build a door to block off the meter....
