My 1999 Daewoo Lanos temp gauge goes all the way to the red also the Oil warning gauge comes up when the car is idle. But you start to drive and you can literally see the temp gauge going down. The funny thing is the car does not seem to overheat when you open the hood and it has plenty oil, i've also replaced the thermostat.
