I have a Hitachi DV18DVC Cordless drill which came with three NiCd batteries. The drill is running fine, but the batteries don't hold a charge well anymore. Can I use lithium ion batteries with this drill or am I stuck with NiCd?

I have a Hitachi DV18DVC Cordless drill which came with three NiCd batteries. The drill is running fine, but the batteries don't hold a charge well anymore. Can I use lithium ion batteries with this drill or am I stuck with NiCd?
You can use the Li ion batteries so long as they fit into the drill and the connections / voltage are the same. I'd use the appropriate charger too.

You might also be able to replace the cells inside the battery packs
