Hive installation broke my PCB on boiler

That's distance to the room stat, not separation distance.
I did read and re-read, it does not really make sense, I know with my boiler the hub is within 2 meters of the boiler, but the thermostats in one case is two floors up, diagonally opposed to the boiler, and I have a booster socket adaptor as too far from the hub to connect with zigbee. Not measured the distance but very likely well over 30 meters, and common sense says it really does not matter how far the thermostat is from the boiler.

However, it likely does matter how far away the 24 VDC is from the 230 VAC.

I don't disagree that they guy was not competent but I, perhaps mistakenly, thought that Gas Safe was only required for the gas side (including both the exhaust and condensate pipe). The Hive room stat will either work or not- I, as a lay person, cannot see how it makes the boiler dangerous. I am happy to be corrected by the plumbers here whom I respect.

I think the issue is that now the boiler PCB has been fried it needs to be replaced, and he may need to be gas-safe to do that even if the original thermostat connection didn’t need it. On at least some boilers, after replacing the PCB you have to do some gas flow rate (????) adjustments, followed by flue gas measurements. Or something like that.

Anyone replacing a PCB on a gas appliance should be gas safe registered as it will need to be tested and adjusted to ensure it's firing properly.

The Easi Heat Plus C's external case is decorative, the heat engine (Burner/hex/fan/etc) is all enclosed within a separate internal combustion cover. So accessing the electrics doesn't compromise the combustion space, so I wouldn't think the person would need to be GSR'd.
