Honda civic headlight alarm

My brother has a 52 plate honda civic imagine. He's forever leaving the lights on and i've got to keep jump starting it for him when the batteries flat. The alarm for the lights isn't working. Will this be a fuse or something else blown ? In other words, what makes the alarm sound ? Cheers.

Check if the interior light works when you open the drivers door. If the door contact sensor is not working the car won't 'know' you've opened the door with the lights on.

It will very quickly kill the battery if he keeps doing it - guess how I know?

This is often because the door switches are dirty\rusted.
They are usually under the rubber cover in the door frame and can be removed with a pozi drive.
Take it out and clean it, clean the contacts (use some fine sandpaper etc) and then test it operates the light correctly.
