Honeywell pressure reducing valve

Hi all.

I've got a honeywell D04FS pressure reducing valve to install for my brother as his incomming water pressure is 8 - 10 bar in the day, and 14 bar at night! It has done some damage to the boiler and his RGI who carried out the repair has advised he has a reducing valve fitted.

Having a read of the instructions for the valve, it says

• Provide a straight section of pipework of at least five times the
nominal valve size after the pressure reducing valve (in
accordance with DIN 1988, Part 5)

What is the straight section of pipework for? Where his stop tap is, and where the valve is to be sited, this will be impossible to acheive. Do I need to look for a different valve?

Can you come off the stopcock with a bend and then fit the PRV in accordance with the installation instructions?

Nope, you need to fit it before your first cold outlet,anywhere along that pipeline will be o.k
