Fingers crossed the plumber is coming to replace a faulty 3 way valve on the C/H system, but when he installed it it was an electrician who wired the system in, SO to save calling a spark out too, as im familiar with wiring and switches etc etc, i thought id sort the wiring out myself. SO my questions to you chaps are. There are 5 coloured wires coming from the valve head. BLUE/YELLOW&GREEN/WHITE/GRAY and an ORANGE. As far as i can tell there is a nuetral (blue) and an EARTH (green&yellow) So then are the other three wires the SWITCH wires for the different positions of the valve. (H/W,C/H and BOTH H/W and C/H) I apologise if im barking up the wrong tree here, but ill carry on
below is a pic of the terminal block of the whole system

On the pic above, numbers 2 and 4 go directly to the boiler, and the cable No4 is from the valve, and No1 goes to the H/W cylinder stat. BUT as im no 100% with the workings of a CYLINDER STAT or THE VALVE, this is where i need the help of you guys!!! so can anyone deduce any info from the pic in terms of what colour switches what etc etc  I also notice that the boiler has a 240v SUPPLY (cable number 2) and also a SINGLE BROWN core (cable number 4). All this is in case the new valve is not coloured in the same way, as i think the plumber is fitting a different type of valve. ANY info will be really appreciated.......

Any heating bod worthy of the name will be able to rewire the valve with his eyes shut - quicker though if he keeps them open.

If you want more information search this forum or look at the Honeywell site.

the wires will prob be the same unless he fits a different type of valve even then he should no how to wire it!

as you say he's only got three wires to work out and the mi will tell you if colours are different.

Nice to see the green and yellow connected to the grey without sleeving

WHITE WIRE IS CONNECTED TO SITCHED LIVE OF ROOM STAT.
GREY WIRE,USUALLY CONNECTED TO TERMINAL 2 OF CYLINDER STAT
(SAME TERMINAL THAT IS WIRED FROM PROGRAMMER-H/W OFF)
THE ORANGE WIRE IS YOUR SWITCHED LIVE WHICH THEN GOES TO
THE BOILER

this was supposed to be a Pro spark too, obviousley not upto your standards
