Hoover HNC 172 Condenser Dryer Issue

Hi All,
We have a Hoover HNC 172 Dryer, which started off making a noice when running, and now when turned on it doesnt turn and just makes a humming noise,

Any ideas where to start to try to diagnose the problem?

Take the lid off and see if there is a belt round the drum. Does the drum turn OK by hand or is it stiff to turn? The belt may have broken but it could be the starter condenser that has failed. The noise could have been bits of damaged belt thrashing around or you could have a more serious fault such as bearing failure.

I will take a look tomorrow, but the drum moves fairly freely.

Any idea how this machine is easily taken apart, as I tried to remove lid earlier and it wasn't as simple as removing the screws on the back?
