I have an existing loft extension, used as a bedroom, in which i am planning to add an en-suite shower room.
A number of people have told me that i will have problems getting a hot water supply as, obviously, it is above the hot water tank.

Is this so?, are there any pumps etc.?

Any help appreciated on account of the fact that i'm hopeless

Cheers
Andy

In the loft, adjacent to the extension, at about the same height that a wash basin would be

i've just been sizing it up !

The taps would be almost level with the surface of water in the tank

That would probably do it. for the basin If u install a shower , u will have to fit an electric one.

You will probably find that a pump will be needed as 18 inches extra pressure will be negligible. :(

i know i'm going to embarras myself with this but how does the cold water tank affect the pressure for the hot water?

what do you suppose makes the hot water come out of the cylinder? (via a tap of course)
its the cold water going in at the bottom (from tank in loft) that forces it out of the top. so the higher the tank the more pressure you get

You'd either use local electric heat of the mains for your HW up there, or use a small twin Negative Head pump - or a positive head pump and a suitable switch so you can turn the pump on. Plenty to be looking up, there, I suspect?
