Hey guys,

Complete novice here but our hot water tank makes the following noise when turned on via the timer.....any ideas what it is, what needs to be done to remedy? It can be quite loud and happens on and off.

Thank you in advance

Thanks Dan, when you say water levels are you referring to the water tank in the loft?

I think air may be the problem...is this easy to resolve.

Cheers

Try and see if you have any air bleed off points in the airing cupboard - manual bleed valve up high. Has this always happened or just started recently as you have fired up the central heating for the first time since March/April?
Remember, you rad network has likely been sitting dormant for several months!

Thanks....to be honest we moved into the house in April and from what I can remember it has always done this. Should have tackled this earlier but to some extent considered this the norm as we had a combi boiler previously.

The link took me to a google search...is that correct?

Yes. Just read through some of the returns of the search. Not the ads obviously! The procedures for removing air are well documented and myriad! There will be plenty of info available in the FAQ of this forum - rather than us just repeating it all in this thread, carry out the normal procedures and then post back if you are unable to remedy!
