Hi guys,

I have just installed brick slips in my home and I am looking for the right mortar mix/ratio between sand, lime, cement/ White cement and water (or pigment colour) to achieve the desired colour below please, in addition to achieving strongly bonded mortar. Below is the colour, its a sandstone/buff warm sand look. Looking to achieve a similar colour so I can fill the 10mm gaps in my brick slips.

Below I have attached the colour and pictures of a brick slipped wall with the colour mortared in it.

Many thanks in advance.

Buff coloured mortar tone with a 5:1 sand to cement mix. Use plasticiser not lime.

You shouldn’t need a strong bond for brick slips.

Normal should be fine. As 23vc says, if you can get hold of yellow sand then great, but normal sand and the tone should get the colour right.

Pointing is a tricky business if you've not done it before. Take your time or consider a pointing gun.
