How do I remove this drywall socket backbox without breaking it?

Hello how to I remove this plastic case without breaking it? We need to make a bigger hole to push the wire through so think it’s best to take it out before hand. It’s used to hide the wires so really don’t want to break it so thought I was best asking here. Thank you for any help.

They do push backwards, but they ratchet - sometimes making them difficult to remove, or pry out.

how to I remove this plastic case without breaking it?

Don't worry if you do break them, they are pennies to buy new ones!

The little slot to the right and left of where the screws go, put a flat blade screwdriver in and gently pry away from the centre of the box and the yellow section will pop out

Before you try and remove it from the wall, run a stanley knife round the edge of the box where it meets the wall. Otherwise you risk yanking off several layers of paint and (possibly) filler.

when you prise the yellow tabs inwards you can be quite brutal as they dont break easily
