Hi there, I have a problem with the motorised valve feeding the central heating system. The radiators get hot when HW only mode. I suspect the valve is stuck open yet when the valve is powered up, I can see the lever move over and when powered down it returns.

On the right hand side of the valve is a little lever which doesn't seem to do anything, but someone has told me you can remove the entire top off the valve by pushing/moving this lever to release it. Is this true? I'm at work at the mo so I can't try it untill later this evening.

Any help much appreciated.

On the newer ones yes, but on the old cream / white ones then its no....not really. If you can be bothered to strip out all the interals and cover plates there are 2 screws at the bottom holding the head onto the valve, but you will probably destroy it trying to get to them. It will be the valve body causing the valve to pass anyway so can't really see any point in removing the head.

Thanks for that. I've took a look at the insides and when I removed the motor, the spring that pulls the valve shut fell out on the floor. One end was broken. Hope to scrounge one from work that'll fit and hopefully save myself a hefty bill.
