how do you chop out a wall neat?

pic 5-6 show where he has removed plater and then some of the brick also, it looks like rf has used a drill of some sort?

I have to chop some wires in on my own house before the plaster guy turns up and would like some tips of you all please on how to get it nice and neat! (without all the plaster dropping off in other words)

O and RF also! so what did you use on them pics?

I would chain drill (drill a row of closely spaced holes) around the bit to chop out, and 'join the dots' with a bolster. Mark your drill bit to get all the holes the right depth.

You could use an angle grinder with a masonry cutting disk, but that is VERY messy - dust, and lots of it, goes everywhere. Not so bad in an empty house, not good if you're trying to live there at the same time.

If your plaster is loose or poor quality nothing will stop it coming off. If the plaster is good and the bricks not too hard an SDS drill with roto stop and a decent chisel attachment can give a neat job.

If you've a plasterer coming in then it really doesnt matter as he is there to fill in all the holes and make it look lovely - although they tend to make quite a mess themselves!
