Our neighbours are having an extension done, complete with some inside refurbishments. I'm hoping people can help me with a few questions: -

1. What is the earliest that builders are allowed to start work each day?
2. Is work allowed to be carried out on a Sunday and extend into evenings on weekdays?

Any pointers would be much appreciated

Cheers

Really?

Aren't there any construction/building regs to stop it going on later than normal working hours.

I am suprised I must say

If the work noise levels becomes a real nusiance you can contact the Local council environmental health officer who deals with noise abbatement.

A word with the neighbour is your first course of action.

Cheers fella.

I've just been round there but didn't get much of a sympathetic response. I expected at least a 'sorry about the noise' but all I got was '20 minutes more'.

Trust me, I'm not a moaning minnie at all. I am totally ok with the fact that we too could have an extension, and it's a free world. We've also let them take our new fence down for access to their extension and also let them put scaffolding up all over our new lawn so I think we're being pretty helpful.

We'll see how it goes..

There are no regulations for this type of work.

The local council EHO is the one to contact, but by the time the council eventually turn up, the job may be finished

If the council do get involved, then they will most likely impose an 8-5 weekday and 8-1 Saturday limit. But with some flexibility for "one -off" late working untill about 8PM weekdays

Thanks all

Just slightly disappointed that our flexibilty has not been recipricated.

More than 'happy' for the banging and knocking to be done in work hours, but just a bit cheesed off when it starts up again until after 8pm and all day on Sundays.

Never mind, It'll all be over soon
