Just had some plastering done in the kitchen due to rising damp and had it all hacked off up to 4 foot. Is there a rough time limit until I can paint over it? Do I have to put an oil-based paint over it before I then emulsion it?
Only paint it when dry, as environmental conditions and depth of plaster can vary, there is no correct answer regarding the period to leave it.
Belt & braces could be up to 6 weeks.
As stated above there isno specific time. But when dry give it a coat of watered down Matt emulsion (mist coat) about 50:50 ratio. If plaster has a really glossy surface when dry then give it a sand down to take the shine off first, this is to let the plaster absorb the watered down emulsion.
