How much does a brickie charge per day then?

There's always one exception to the rule, but for the number of posts that we've had about builders found on these fancy internet sites, the rule of thumb still applies. Hadn't thought about checking the local small adds, but he's still need someone to do the roof afterwards - but at least he'd have got the brickwork done, so not a bad idea to follow.

OK thanks for that. I am going out Monday to a couple of local jobs that I have admired passing by and will go to the local builders merchants as advised.
 
Yep, all about contacts. Got my consumer unit changed for £150 (labour) and yes all paperwork supplied / submitted etc. Good price but I knew the guy, so he was doing it for mates rates in his spare time.
